As the demographics of the housing market continue to change as millennials reach their peak in home buying, the aesthetics and architecture of the home will follow. Homebuyers are ready to clean up their aesthetic palette from predictable suburban landscapes brimming with indistinguishable, cookie-cutter homes, and are now opting for diversification in their home searches instead.

With this, home builders and interior designers in the United States are beginning to embrace innovation and creativity to vary streetscapes and interior design in new neighborhoods. Recently interviewed by the National Association of REALTORS®, The Plan Collection (an online home design company), shares its predictions for architecture in 2022:
“Curves counter the ‘straight line syndrome’…expect to see more arched openings, barrel-vaulted ceilings and curved furniture,” predicts the team at The Plan Collection. Also, you can spot more arched windows and doors as well as curved ceilings for porches or decks and curved walkways.
To support this design shift, another recent article by Elise Taylor for Vogue captures the predictions of 14 top interior designers for 2022:
“…many predict the rise of the enveloping, earthy color of brown, displayed in fabrics like leather or even in terracotta walls…Others see a spike in surfaces and accents inspired by the nature – think marbles and mushroom shapes – while others say their customers may not have enough soft, curvy furniture.
New to the market in the gated community of Bentwater, a 16-home development in the Sandy Springs neighborhood of Grogan’s Bluff, lives a custom-built contemporary home that is the epitome of these rising trends. This newly remodeled 5-bedroom estate enjoys complete privacy on its serene 1.5-acre lot, nestled between a wooded frontage and backyard (yet another trend we’re seeing in the market as buyers are paying more importance to the integration of nature and home). Anchored by the large two-story circular foyer, the interior blend of open-concept living and distinguished functional space is accentuated by flowing curvature, high ceilings, intricate windows, and plenty of natural light.
The spacious chef’s kitchen features Subzero and Wolf appliances, with sleek granite countertops and modern finishes. Perfect for entertaining, the luxurious living room invites the outdoors with its floor-to-ceiling windows and stately French doors that lead to the expansive back deck and wooded backyard.
The real draw of this contemporary home is its incredibly unique architecture, the result of a collaboration between Atlanta architect Saeid Sadri and builder Paul Kamelhair. A departure from the clean, straight lines and monochromatic color palettes of most modern architecture, this Sandy Springs home embodies the quiet boldness of soft contemporary design. Distinctions such as the comforting curves of the large circular fireplace and the natural color palettes of warm, earthy undertones provide a soothing feeling of comfort. From its curved walls to its dramatic vaulted ceilings, no detail was overlooked when designing this elegant contemporary home.
