CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Core Spaces (“Core”), a Chicago-based, vertically integrated residential real estate developer, owner and operator, and Clemson’s Tom Winkopp Development (“Winkopp”) today announced a joint venture to create one of nation’s largest off-campus student housing development projects in a walkable 140-acre student village near the Clemson University campus.
The student village will feature 4,000 beds, spanning the 1,400-bed student accommodation development known as The Pier, as well as state-of-the-art sports and fitness facilities, swimming pools, outdoor barbecue areas, clubhouses students, access to the waterfront and waterfront trails. Once fully constructed, the site will feature a new walkable town center that is charming and accessible to all students and the local community.

The student village is one element of a larger mixed-use project across the entire 325-acre site that will be developed by Tom Winkopp Development and its partners over the next three to five years. Winkopp and his partners have owned the land since 2007. Clemson Area Transit, a zero-fare bus line known locally as CAT and the most frequently used public transit system in South Carolina, already provides shuttle service. buses to and from campus with stops every 30 minutes and possibly every 15 minutes.
