JLL Launches Multi-Family Property Management Group, Canvas Appoints COO, Avison Young Hires Data Center Veteran
JLL has added multifamily to its list of property management services and has chosen a 30-year industry veteran in his Chicago office to lead the charge.
General director Lela Cirjakovic will work with national and regional leaders to focus on building and growing relationships with multi-family clients for the global brokerage firm.
JLL previously offered property management services only for office, industrial, retail and life science spaces. Its new multi-family property management platform will include asset management, residential programming, technology services and on-site management teams.
The expansion would also allow JLL to fully serve owners of mixed-use properties across the country. Currently, JLL employs 2,300 property management professionals overseeing more than 745 million square feet of commercial space in the United States.
“Our multi-family management experts, backed by JLL’s property management platform, will provide clients with unrestricted access to expert industry services, resources and attention needed to ensure superior service and performance. prime real estate,” Cirjakovic said in a statement announcing the move. “I have spent most of my career on the ownership side, and I will continue to bring that ownership mindset to every community we serve.”
Cirjakovic has nearly three decades of real estate asset management experience, most recently as Executive Vice President of Operations in Waterton, where she oversaw the vertically integrated real estate investment firm’s multi-family property portfolio.
Prior to that, Cirjakovic managed Midwest operations for Chicago-based multi-family property management firm Camco as a regional director and a member of its senior executive committee. She previously worked at Midland Property Management and the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
Real estate investment platform Canvas Investment Partners and Canvas Property Group have appointed Brett Klein as general manager of the multi-family and mixed real estate company.
In his new role, Klein will develop, implement and execute a corporate strategy to scale the multi-business platform that focuses on Class A multi-family transactions in the New York metro area. He is also responsible for guiding the company’s expansion into certain US markets.
The news comes after Canvas announced in July a strategic partnership with HRS Management, the family office of Apollo Global Management co-founder Josh Harris, to invest more than $1 billion in multi-family properties.
Klein brings over 22 years of experience in senior management positions in various real estate companies with a total of $16 billion in assets under management. Most recently, Chief Financial Officer of EquityMultiple, Klein spent over 13 years at NorthStar Asset Management Group, where he was responsible for alternative products and raised over $4.5 billion in equity capital. He has also served on the investment committees of seven unlisted public companies.
Howard Berry joined Avison Young as a director with its data center services platform in San Francisco.
In his new role, Berry will partner with the company’s existing data center real estate team to advise on business development as well as the sale, lease and development of data center properties. He will also focus on building the company’s investor network in the Silicon Valley region of Northern California and across the country.
Berry brings over 20 years of data center platform and real estate experience nationally and in the Bay Area, having provided commercial real estate advisory services in the investment, technology, data centers, industry, research and development, offices and redevelopment. He also has a background in large scale construction and project management.
National commercial real estate services company BBG has appointed Chris Harland as general manager. Harland and his team of five business appraisers join BBG’s new office in Albany, New York, the company’s 49th U.S. office.
In his new role, Harland will oversee office operations and provide litigation support services in addition to expanding the company’s presence in the Northeast.
Harland has focused on the appraisal, underwriting and analysis of real estate for over three decades, including recreational, hospitality, retail, multi-family, healthcare, office, industrial and distribution properties. and residential. A certified real estate appraiser in several northeastern states, Harland most recently served as general manager of Hilco Real Estate Appraisal’s northeast region. Previously, he was President of Capstone Appraisal Group and held executive positions at other national real estate services companies.
Wendy Sikorski joined multifamily and senior housing asset management firm Cambridge Management Services as senior vice president of operations in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In his new role, Sikorski will lead the company’s operations as its affiliate, LeCesse Development Corp., prepares for increased development activity next year.
Sikorski most recently served as Senior Regional Director at CGI Residential, where she was recognized as a member of its President’s Club from 2015-2021. She has also served on the board of directors of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association, South Carolina Apartment Association and the Leadership Lyceum Apartment Association of North Carolina.
Kevin Griffiths joined JLL’s industrial team as senior vice president in his Dallas office.
In his new role, Griffiths will serve industrial owners and users in the food and beverage industry nationwide, joining the Dallas industrial team led by Craig Jones.
Griffiths most recently served as a broker at Newmark, where he focused on tenant representation, agency leasing and investment sales. Since May 2021, Griffiths has completed over 1.2 million square feet of food and beverage real estate transactions valued at nearly $200 million.
The National Apartment Association, a rental housing industry advocacy and education group with 92,000 members representing more than 11 million apartments nationwide, has hired Angel Baltimore as senior vice president of information technology.
In his new role, Baltimore will create an enterprise-wide information technology strategy and work closely with key stakeholders and management on technology implementation, in addition to leading the NAA’s information technology team.
Baltimore joins NAA from the American Pharmacists Association, where she served as vice president of digital strategy and e-commerce. Prior to that, she held technology leadership positions with the Department of State’s Federal Credit Union and the American Institute of Architects.
JLL Capital Markets has appointed Bill Krebsbach as a senior director within its team of retail investment sales advisors.
In his new role, Krebsbach will focus on single-tenant net investment sales while growing relationships with development partners. He will report directly to the Managing Directors of JLL colin ryan and David Berglundco-leaders of the company’s office in Minneapolis.
Krebsbach has spent the past four years as an investment broker at Mid-America Real Estate Group, where he advised clients on acquisitions and divestitures. During his time there, Krebsbach made over $300 million in real estate transactions.
Antoine Bertenelli joined Kidder Mathews as Vice President and Senior Property Manager with its Asset Servicing Group in Portland, Oregon.
In his new role, Bertenelli will continue to advise commercial real estate clients in the leasing and management of their industrial, flex, office and retail properties.
Bertenelli brings over 15 years of commercial asset management experience, including property management, project management and property leasing, in addition to managing mixed-use projects and homeowners associations. Prior to beginning his career in commercial real estate, Bertenelli served five years on active duty in the US Marine Corps.
Kristi Anderson joined CBRE as vice president in Omaha, Nebraska.
In his new role, Andersen will help clients lease and sell office, industrial and commercial properties for owners, tenants, landlords and operators.
Anderson joins CBRE from Colliers in Omaha, where she closed more than $26 million in deals last year alone. Prior to entering commercial real estate, Anderson spent 20 years in the public relations and communications industry and currently runs his own consultancy, having worked as director of communications and media relations for the Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority and as Nebraska Press Secretary for Republican Sen. Mike Johans. Earlier in his career, Anderson was a broadcast journalist.
