Richardson mixed-use project would include apartments and student housing
A Utah developer is seeking zoning in Richardson to build a mixed-use project near University of Texas at Dallas.
The 13-acre development is planned on the south side of Bush Turnpike on Waterview Parkway.
Alta Terra Real Estate wants to build a combination of student housing, apartments and a small hotel on the property located just north of the UTD campus. Up to 19,000 square feet of retail space would also be included in the plans.
The developers are seeking planning approval for a five-story, 529-bed student housing community, 340 apartments with retail, two freestanding retail buildings and a four-story, 110-room limited service hotel.
The Artre Waterview student housing project would include two courtyards, a fitness area, a study lounge, a community center and a dog park.
Gensler did the master plan for the project.
The development site is currently zoned for office construction. The site is surrounded by office and retail uses.
The site is just north of the route of DART’s new Silver Line commuter rail that will link DFW International Airport with Plano.
Dallas’ Wynne/Jackson built the nearby Northside residential and retail development that has housing for hundreds of UTD students.
Developer Alta Terra Real Estate specializes in student housing and apartment construction. The company is based in Park City, Utah. The company has current projects in Utah, Florida, Alabama and South Carolina.
